Culture

A burial mound near Butov was excavated and reconstructed in 2013 by staff of the Západočeské muzeum v Plzni. The Butovská mohyla dates from the Middle Bronze Age, approximately from the 16th to the 14th century BC. In 1936, the Butovská mohyla was excavated by Otto Eichhorn, a professor and museum director who worked in Stříbro. The dates allow for a separate historical perspective: excavations from the 20th and 21st centuries stand alongside a dating to the Middle Bronze Age. The Petrský les burial-mound area comprises 25 burial mounds on the eastern slope of Soudný, above the southern bank of the Malovický potok and north of the Mže River.
