Dlouhý Újezd: Hotels and Accommodations

Dlouhý Újezd lies on the edge of the Český les Protected Landscape Area. The village combines a long history dating back to 1361 with marked trails and diverse landscapes in the surrounding area and beyond.

Nature

The forest area west of Dlouhý Újezd is part of the Český les Nature Park. South of the village, on the road to Žebráky, the group of Mechové rybníky ponds includes interesting wetlands and a landscape area rich in flowers.

The mountains of Přimda, Knižeci Strom, and Schneeberg lie in the vicinity of Dlouhý Újezd.

History and Culture

Dlouhý Újezd is first mentioned in 1361 under the name “Langendorfflein.” A former fortress in Dlouhý Újezd was probably remodeled and eventually converted into a château. The site of the former château has completely disappeared beneath newer buildings and can no longer be identified.

The Jewish cemetery west of Dlouhý Újezd can be reached via a field path leading south through the forest from the last houses on the southeastern edge of the village; around 250 gravestones have been preserved there, including the oldest dating from 1736. The cemetery is historically valuable because of its Baroque and Neoclassical gravestones. A small chapel can be seen beside the road toward Tachov.

On the Way

Marked cycle route No. 2172 runs through Dlouhý Újezd. The local terrain is suitable for cross-country skiing in winter. The Goldsteig CZ 16 trail continues to Dlouhý Újezd and eventually to Tachov.

The wider regional surroundings of Dlouhý Újezd include the historic Flossenbürg concentration camp site, Entenbil Mountain, and the Center of Europe monument.
