Hartmanice is located on the border of Ĺ umava National Park at an altitude of 712 m.
Nature
Mount Hamižná has been a nature reserve since 1995. Remains of gold mining, including pits and millstones, have been preserved on Hamižná. The Hamižná educational trail is 3 km long and has thirteen information stations. The Ochranářský koutek is the starting and finishing point of the educational trail and features a hut, a fire pit, a drinking-water spring, and a rest area. The educational trail is suitable for hikers, cyclists, and families with young children.
Culture
The Horská Synagogue in Hartmanice is the highest-altitude synagogue in the Czech Republic and one of the few surviving synagogues in the Bohemian Forest. Concerts, lectures, and theater performances are held there regularly. St. Catherine’s Church in Hartmanice has Gothic origins dating back to the 14th century. Its vestibule houses a year-round exhibition commemorating twelve women who died during a death march at the end of World War II.
Hartmanice was a customs settlement on the medieval BĹ™eznická Trail. The VintĂĹ™ova Trail runs through Prášily, Dobrá Voda, Hartmanice, and Sušice and is 150 km long in total; it forms part of a historic trade route between Niederaltaich and Blatná.
Winter
The Hartmanice ski resort has four slopes of varying difficulty and is suitable for family skiing. The resort also includes a slope just under 600 m long and a lift; the terrain ranges from gentle sections for beginners and children to steeper sections for experienced skiers.
