Žihobce: Hotels and Accommodation

The Czech section of the Lamberská stezka in the Šumava region is an almost 50 km circular trail. It can be completed in stages or in individual sections.

Culture and History

As a stop on the Lamberská stezka, Žihobce combines a museum in an early Baroque château with an adjoining English park and the Netopýřím parkem educational trail. The château was built in the Renaissance style in the 17th century and converted into a Baroque château in 1688. The rectangular early Baroque building has one upper floor and a raised ground floor; original barrel vaults have also been preserved, some of them complemented by stucco mirrors.

The Lamberská stezka Museum is located in the west wing of the historic château. On the ground floor, there are three halls with seasonal exhibitions. In a historic Šumava building, the Netopýr Gallery displays art and handicrafts related to the Šumava region.

The Neo-Romanesque Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord was built from 1872 to 1876 on the site of a former Gothic church. It is currently open to the public.

Nature

The attic of Žihobce château is home to a summer colony of the lesser horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus hipposideros) and has been designated an area of European importance.

The Netopýřím parkem educational trail follows an approximately 1 km circular route through the former château park and includes five information panels. It also includes an insect habitat made from tree trunks felled during the revitalization of the château park.

Trails and Leisure

A marked yellow hiking trail begins in Žihobce and leads via Strašín to Javorník. A marked blue hiking trail also begins here and leads via Rozsedly and Kadešice to Sušice.

The TJ Žihobce bathing area also includes tennis courts and a football pitch.
