Culture and Architectural History
The Church of St. Peter and Paul in Líšťany is first mentioned in local chronicles in 1369. The foundation stone of the present-day church was laid on May 20, 1768. A statue of the Virgin Mary dating from the early 16th century is located on the triumphal arch. Líšťany Château was built in the first quarter of the 18th century as a four-winged Baroque complex on the foundations of a medieval fortress.
In Líšťany, a small chapel dating from the late 19th century stands on a road at the edge of the village. It has a circular ground plan, a conical roof topped with a cross, blind arcades, and an arched frieze. Líšťany is also home to a small cylindrical chapel in the Neo-Romanesque style, with a conical roof, blind arcades on small columns with cushion capitals, and an arched frieze.
Historical Traces
Near Luhov lies the “Vojenský tábor” hillfort site on a spur above the confluence of the Žebrácký potok and the Mže; the fortified area covers more than 9 hectares. In addition to the farmyard, the site of the former fortress and traces of water ditches have been preserved near Luhov.
Near Hunčice lie the ruins of Frumštejn Castle on a spur southeast of the village. The almost rectangular castle is surrounded by a substantial ditch and an outer rampart.
