Meclov: Hotels and Accommodation

Meclov is a place whose history is visible in its buildings and archaeological finds; this picture is complemented by a cycling route that passes through the town.

History

The synagogue in Meclov was built in 1849 and had a square main room. Stucco decorations and the outline of a former niche for the Aron ha-Kodesh are visible on its eastern interior wall; doors were later installed there. The synagogue was subsequently structurally converted into a fire station.

Objects dating from the Hussite Wars were found in the area of the prehistoric settlement near Meclov, including swords and weapon fragments. After a brief Lutheran period from 1599 to 1625, the church in Meclov became Catholic again in 1625.

Landscape

The mountains Škarmanka and Spálený vrch are located in the surroundings of Meclov. The mountains Čerchov and Železný vrch lie farther away in the surrounding region.

On the Way

The 35-kilometre cycle route 2141 passes through Meclov and is part of the Bavarian-Czech Friendship Trail. It is considered the area's most important continuous cycle route.
