Nečtiny: Hotels and Accommodation

The Mlýnská stezka connects Nečtiny with Manětín. It runs through a beautiful landscape along the Starý potok River; mills and the power of water are its main attractions.

Culture and History

The Regionální muzeum Nečtiny features the exhibitions Četnická stanice, Lesnictví a dřevařství and Národopis Nečtinska. Četnická stanice focuses on the former gendarmerie station in Nečtiny, which was one of the twelve gendarmerie stations in the Kralovice political district. Lesnictví a dřevařství illustrates the importance of forests as a source of livelihood and as a source of raw materials for glassworks and other businesses. Národopis Nečtinska is housed in a log cabin room and presents part of the history of the Nečtiny region.

Opposite Preitenstein Castle stands the Neo-Gothic Zámek Nečtiny complex. Its U-shaped layout and wings of varying lengths enclose a courtyard of honour. Preitenštein Castle (Breitenstein) was built as a large hilltop castle before 1333. The castle ruins include the outer walls of the castle and palace, as well as a passage leading down to the cellars. The ruins of Preitenstein Castle are designated as an important archaeological site.

The Church of St Anne was built between 1450 and 1462, destroyed during the Thirty Years' War, and rebuilt by Václav Adam Kokořovec between 1655 and 1657. It has a single-nave interior with a flat ceiling, a semicircular triumphal arch, a wide chancel and a sacristy with a burial site.

Landscape and Surroundings

Below Preitenštein Castle in Nečtiny are basalt columns that may be among the longest in Bohemia. The mountains Vladař, Třebouň and Homolka are located in the vicinity of Nečtiny.

The wider region around Nečtiny includes Novy Dvur Monastery, the Zřícenina Lina ruins and Sténský vrch Mountain. It is also home to the Svatý Prokop monument and Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral.
