Pec: Hotels and accommodations

Pec is located in the Český les Protected Landscape Area. Several marked hiking trails lead through the village; in winter, cross-country skiers use the 13-kilometre cross-country ski trail beneath Čerchov, known as the Čerchovský okruh.

Landscape and trails

The mountain Spálený vrch is located in the immediate vicinity of Pec. The surrounding area also includes the mountains Dreiwappen, Škarmanka and Dachsriegel.

Culture and local history

The Dřevorubecké muzeum in Pec was founded in 2006 by the local association for the protection of monuments and the municipal office. It focuses on the lives and work of the inhabitants of Pec pod Čerchovem, as well as on the work, products, working methods and tools of lumberjacks. One section of the museum is dedicated to historic chainsaws; it also provides information about former blast-furnace and glassworks production in Pec pod Čerchovem and displays related exhibits.

The Dřevorubecké muzeum is open from May to September during the main season; there are no fixed opening hours. Visitors are asked to call at least one day in advance to arrange a visit.

The Daliborka in Pec pod Čerchovem was completed in 1912. It was named after its round tower, which resembles a tower in Prague.

At the Mlýneček locality, also known as Na Mlýnečku, the pond is frequently used as a bathing area during the summer months. Around 1863, Jan Knopf from Chodov converted an abandoned sawmill there into a small mill. Milling continued at the Mlýneček mill until 1948.
