In the 16th century, Kříženec was incorporated into the Planá estate.
History and culture
During the First World War, a mica mine was opened on the outskirts of Kříženec. The “Lom Kříženec” station covers the history of mining near Kříženec. A villa with turrets was built near the mica mine, resembling a small castle. Various mineral resources were mined in the surroundings of Kříženec.
The “Křížový kámen - hraniční kříž” is a granite slab with a complex relief. The archaeological site “Výšinné opevněné sídliště - hradiště Kříženec, archeologické stopy” is classified as a prehistoric settlement. Novy Dvur Monastery is located in the surroundings of Kříženec, as is the Center of Europe monument.
Landscape
The basalt hill Homole is located in the immediate surroundings of Kříženec and is 681 metres high. Homole can be reached from the road via a walkable tourist trail. Homole offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Viči hora mountain is located in the surroundings of Kříženec, as is Podhorni vrch mountain. Sténský vrch mountain is located in the wider regional surroundings of Kříženec, as is Spálený mountain.
Geographical location
The current Czech VFR guide lists LKKRIZ – Kříženec as a non-public area for sport light aircraft and states that it operates year-round.
