Skořice: Hotels and Accommodation

Skořice is a foothill settlement at an altitude of 596 metres on the edge of the Brdy forests. In the centre of the village, the Baroque Church of St. Wenceslas, dedicated to St. Wenceslas, stands on a hill; it is a landmark of Skořice that is widely visible in the surrounding area.

Culture

The Church of St. Wenceslas was rebuilt into its present form in 1677. The grave of opera singer Ludmila Komancová is located in the cemetery beside the church; an online grave register is available for the Skořice cemetery, helping visitors find individual graves and buried persons.

The Dršťka (Losumberk) castle ruins lie in the cadastral area of Skořice v Brdech and are designated as a significant archaeological site. The memorial to the victims of the First World War in Skořice comes from the vanished village of Padrť in the Brdy Military Training Area.

There are five memorials in Skořice village square. In the park in the village square in front of the municipal office stands the memorial to the victims of the First and Second World Wars from Záběhlá; after 2000, it was brought to Skořice by people from Záběhlá. The memorial to the victims of the Second World War in Skořice commemorates Alois Vavroch, Josef Pavlovič, Jan Vaněk and Václav Krajdl.

The memorial plaque to Alois Vavroch is located on house no. 91 in Skořice, where he was born and lived.

Landscape

The Račí potok flows through the southern valley from Trokavec. In the western valley, the Bystrý potok runs through the forest below the forester's house to a mill. The Ledný potok flows through the northern valley below Dubina towards Dobřív, where it joins the Padrťský potok, also known as the Černý.

Due to its altitude and proximity to the Brdy forests, Skořice has relatively harsh climatic conditions, with increased rainfall and snowfall.

Getting Around

The Borovno–Dobřív cycling route passes the Church of St. Wenceslas in Skořice, which is listed there as a point of interest. The Rokycany–Mirošov–Nezvěstice railway line runs near Skořice.

The “U sv. Jana” inn and guesthouse offer visitors refreshments, meals and accommodation in five rooms.
