Soběšice: Hotels and Accommodations

Soběšice lies in southwestern Czechia in the foothills of the Šumava Mountains at an elevation of 652 meters. The landscape combines gentle hills with deep forests while also offering insights into regional trails and history.

Forest and Culture

In Soběšický háj, the Vycházka hajného Nasse Soběšickým hájem educational trail runs through the forest and is just under three kilometers long. Four information boards explain the lives of forestry workers, local stone masonry, and granite quarrying. The Emil-Anton-Lamberk monument is also part of the educational trail. The Nasse educational trail is considered easy and is also suitable for families with children.

Landscape and History

The now-forested Hořice Hill rises above Soběšice. Its afforestation began around 1890 under the teacher Šafařík and was continued by subsequent generations. A quarry and a temporary kiln were historically established on the northern edge of the hill, where the local limestone was burned to produce lime.

Around Soběšice, mushrooms, bilberries, blackberries, and other forest fruits can be found in the gentle hills and deep forests during summer and autumn.

Routes

Cycle Route 121 (Žichovice–Soběšice–Volyně) runs directly through Soběšice. The Czech section of the Lamberská stezka in Pošumaví is an almost 50-kilometer circular route that can be completed in stages or only in part. About one kilometer before Soběšice, the Lamberská stezka leads to the nearly three-kilometer-long Nasse educational trail through Soběšický háj.

Surroundings

Rabí Castle is located in the vicinity of Soběšice, 14 kilometers away, and is considered the most extensive castle ruin in Czechia.
