Týnec: Hotels and accommodation

Týnec and Loreta can be explored through specific buildings, park features and a protected natural site.

Culture and history

The complex of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Týnec includes the crypt of the Kolovrat family, the cemetery gate and the cemetery enclosure wall. The church dates back to the mid-14th century; in the second half of the 17th century, a tower, sacristy and oratory gallery were added. Inside, there is a Gothic fresco of a kneeling knight in an acanthus frame from the 16th century. The southern door is an intarsia Renaissance element from 1617 and bears the monograms of Jan and Alena z Wiederspergu.

The ruins of the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk date from the first half of the 18th century. Today, only the surrounding walls remain of the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk in Loreta. The Loretánská Chapel in Loreta was reconstructed in the 1990s; its eastern façade bears the coats of arms of the Kolowrat and Vrbna families.

Park and nature

The park behind Týnec Château features a central avenue, larger meadows and an old, impressive collection of trees. Rare woody plants grow there, including Caucasian fir, yellow-variegated yew, plane tree, red-leaved beech, columnar pedunculate oaks and valuable old lime trees.

The Štola Loreta in Loreta is protected as a natural monument. The portal of the lower entrance to the old Loreta mine bears the barely visible year 1889. Štola Loreta is the most important bat hibernation site in West Bohemia, particularly for the greater mouse-eared bat, whiskered bat, Daubenton’s bat and brown long-eared bat.
