Velké Hydčice: Hotels and Accommodation

The historic village ensemble is arranged around a small, irregularly shaped and sloping village square.

Culture and History

The historic ensemble on the village square includes a Neoclassical chapel. It also comprises farmsteads oriented with their gables facing the street, with gateways, opposite granaries and stone boundary walls. The village buildings include structures from the 18th and 19th centuries as well as contemporary buildings from around the turn of the 20th century. The ensemble also includes the farmstead “Usedlost č.p. 4”, a brick agricultural farmstead with a preserved Neoclassical gable. Velké Hydčice already belonged to Břevnov Monastery in 1045.

Nature and Trails

The Velké Hydčice–Prácheň educational trail connects the village with the historic Prácheň hill. Using four information panels, it explains the historic landscape of Prácheň and the picturesque surroundings of the Otava. The second half of the trail leads through the Prácheň Nature Reserve. Public access there is permitted only on marked hiking trails.

The green-marked main circular trail of the Velké Hydčice–Hejná–Nezamyslice educational trail begins in Velké Hydčice, passes through Hejná and Nezamyslice, and has seven information panels. Another circular trail is marked yellow and runs around the Kozník and Pučanka hills; it also passes through the Pučanka Nature Reserve.

The Otava and Its Surroundings

The Otava flows past Velké Hydčice and is used for water tourism. The public Velké Hydčice campsite is located in a meadow on the right bank of the Otava. There are marked cycle paths in the vicinity of the campsite. A railway line runs along the Otava near Velké Hydčice.
