Culture and History

The Church of St. Bartholomew was built around 1370 in the Gothic style. It burned down in 1579 and was subsequently restored; in 1788, the church was abandoned.

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was originally a castle chapel built in 1654. Later, the former chapel was converted into a single-nave parish church. A large granite gravestone, brought there from St. Bartholomew in 1845, is located at the church.

Cycling

The 11 km cycle path connects Klatovy and Běšiny. It runs through the valley of the Drnový stream and entirely away from the main road. Cycle Route No. 38 is part of the international Prague–Munich cycle route.

Hiking

The hiking trail to the ruins on Bartoloměj begins at the church in Běšiny and leads through Machov. The trail’s five stations have information boards in Czech and German. Machov is considered the original settlement of Běšiny.

Other places: Týnec, Mezihoří, Ujčín, Hartmanice, Rozparalka, Nemilkov, Svata Katerina, Strážov

To the main travel overview: Klatovy District.
