Trails and Water

Route 1013 leads from the junction in front of the bridge in Nová Ves nad Lužnicí to the railway station. Cycle Route 1 also passes through the municipality and forms part of a loop starting in České Velenice. Cycle Route 2 also runs through Nová Ves nad Lužnicí and continues to Třeboň.

Culture and History

The Chapel of Saint Anne is located directly in Nová Ves nad Lužnicí and is one of the municipality’s more significant monuments. The Church of Saint John the Baptist stands in Krabonoš. It was probably founded as early as the 13th century and is mentioned as a parish church in 1419. Its interior preserves a transferred piece of medieval plaster with a fragment of a painting of Saint John the Baptist.

The history of Krabonoš was also shaped by the events of the 20th century: in 1950, the village was incorporated into the military border zone. Almost all the buildings were subsequently demolished, and the settlement was merged with neighbouring Nová Ves nad Lužnicí.

Around Nová Ves nad Lužnicí lie Teichberg, Schindelberg, Machoberg and Hoher Berg – four named mountains. Geyersteine, a monument, is also located in the surrounding area. Jägerkreuz and Lunkowitzkreuz, both wayside shrines, also stand nearby. In the wider region lies the European Watershed, which is also a monument.
