Řikonín: Hotels and Accommodation
Řikonín lies in a picturesque valley on the Libochovka stream, along whose left bank the village extends. The surrounding area combines a hilly landscape with regional hiking trails and a number of small cultural and historical landmarks.
Landscape and Trails
The landscape around Řikonín consists mainly of spruce or mixed forests, meadows and small fields in the hill country. A green-marked regional hiking trail passes through the village. A walking trail reaches the railway line at Řikonín and is no more than 8 km long.
A walking trail through the Haldatal valley combines the experience of nature with historical traces. In the wider region, it passes a railway tunnel that, from 1943 until the end of the Second World War, was the last so-called C tunnel belonging to the production facilities of Diana GmbH. Also in the wider region, Sochorská skála can be reached from Kutiny via the green-marked hiking trail; the trail passes under a railway viaduct and crosses the Libochovka. In the opposite direction, the green-marked regional hiking trail leads via Chytálky and Pasník to Tišnov railway station.
Culture and History
The Chapel of Saint Giles, built around 1874, stands on the village green in Řikonín. A chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary was also built above the village in 1899. A wooden cross erected in 1949 stands beside a field path, 300 metres from Řikonín. Another wooden cross above the Balákův Mill bears the year 1877.
In the immediate vicinity of Řikonín, beyond the Libochovka, lies the historic Balákův Mill on the stream, formerly known as Severův Mill or Severův mlýn. A concreted mill race has been preserved at the mill. Its grounds originally housed a communal Pazderna, where the village shepherd lived. The place known as „U zabitého“ is marked by a stone bearing the year 1795.
