Culture

The Church of St. Michael in Švábenice was built between 1716 and 1718 in the Baroque style. Its tower is 53 metres high. Its furnishings include an art-historically valuable wooden pulpit, redesigned in 1851. The church museum in the parish church preserves paintings, sculptures, prints, and other objects from the history of the church, the parish, and the town. It is closed until further notice.

The Švábenice Museum is located in a historic former school building dating from 1838. In eight rooms, it presents permanent exhibitions on social life and the history and past of Švábenice. The permanent nativity scene exhibition comprises around 1,400 nativity scenes. Another notable landmark is the sculpture ensemble of the Holy Trinity: it is considered the oldest cultural monument in Švábenice, and an inscription dates its construction to 1711.

History

The former castle chapel in Švábenice stood approximately on the site of today's Chapel of the Virgin Mary Na Hradě. In the 12th century, Augustinians from the Zderaz monastery held services there in the Latin rite for the lords of Švábenice.

The route “Starobylou krajinou Hříběcích hor ze Švábenic ke Zdravé vodě” leads from Švábenice via the Na Jezírku Chapel towards Zdravá voda. The “Malebnou krajinou Němčicka” cycle route also passes through Švábenice and is suitable for recreational cycling.

Hradisko is a mountain in the Švábenice area, as is Předina. Rozkrámy is a hill in the immediate vicinity of Švábenice.
