Bohaté Málkovice: Hotels and Accommodation

In the surroundings of Bohaté Málkovice lies Větrníky, a protected natural area. The area preserves sub-Pannonian steppe grasslands as well as semi-natural dry grasslands and scrub communities on calcareous ground. Its species-rich xerothermic vegetation includes numerous rare and endangered Pontic-Pannonian species. The protected area also preserves habitats of rare and endangered animal species, as well as dry-grassland and xerophilous scrub habitats.

Culture and History

The Zvonice na návsi is a local cultural and historical landmark on the village square. Bohaté Málkovice has been documented in records or historical sources since 1307. In 1391, the entire village belonged to the Augustinian monastery. The settlement was officially renamed from Německé to Bohaté in 1920.

Bohaté Málkovice has always been a purely agricultural settlement with highly fertile soils and prosperous farmers. The village’s three known historical seals document its agricultural character.

West of Bohaté Málkovice stands a rendered masonry wayside shrine with a square ground plan. It consists of a smooth four-sided base that tapers slightly toward the middle of the shaft. The lantern is separated from the shaft by a narrow cornice and divided on each side by rectangular niches containing depictions of saints. It is topped by a gable roof covered with fired clay tiles and bearing a small Latin cross. A late Baroque wayside shrine also stands on a hill west of Bohaté Málkovice.

The Svatý kříž near the municipal office was restored in 2008. The Stoletý kříž stands on the border between Bohaté Málkovice and the municipality of Kojátky.

Landscape

The Větrník hill rises west of Bohaté Málkovice. From there, views open south toward the Pálava Hills, north toward Kopeček near Olomouc, and east toward Hostýn. Bařisko includes a pond, a small pool, and a wetland in the vicinity of Bohaté Málkovice.

Urban and Radlovec, two mountains, lie in the surroundings of Bohaté Málkovice. Nearby are Reblovna [Kojátky], a hill, and Malý Povětrník [Bohaté Málkovice], also a hill.
