Culture and History

The Tomáš E. Müller Museum is currently hosting exhibitions about legionnaires from Bohdalice and the surrounding area, as well as women in the 1st Czechoslovak Army Corps. Another historical landmark is Bohdalický zámek Castle. The Neoclassical building, dating from the first quarter of the 19th century, stands on the original site of a Renaissance fortress. It is used as a school and is not normally open to the public.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Bohdalice-Pavlovice is a Neoclassical building with late Baroque elements and was built between 1807 and 1814. The crypt of the Manner family is located beneath its presbytery. The grounds include a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the early 18th century and a stone cross dating from 1845. In Manerov, the Chapel of St Francis is one of the oldest surviving monuments in the district.

Nature

In the surrounding area, east of Manerov, the Pahorek Nature Monument protects thermophilous Pontic-Pannonian plant communities and wild animals, particularly amphibians.

The Ve Žlebcách Nature Reserve lies east of Pavlovice. Its original mix of deciduous forests and various herbs provides paths for walks. The mixed forest is home to Turk's cap lilies, lungwort, wildflowers and common toads.

Trails and Events

A blue-marked hiking trail passes through Pavlovice. In Bohdalice, a pilgrimage to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary takes place at the parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on 15 August.

The Carské slavnosti festival is held in Bohdalice every two years in November. The programme includes a historical re-enactment, a military camp, battle demonstrations and a presentation of historical costumes.
