Borovník: Hotels and Accommodations

The surroundings of Borovník are suitable for walks and bike rides on marked trails. A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Borovník via Vidonín, along the Libochovka River and past Mezibořský Pond to Meziboří. Another 30-kilometer route passes through Borovník, which is reached at kilometer 25. In addition, the 30-kilometer “Pramen Haldy” cycling route runs from Níhovský Pond via Borovník to Rozseč.

The first written mention of Borovník dates from 1398. The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk is considered the dominant landmark of Borovník, while a brick bell tower stands in the center of the village.

A local legend about Franz Juříček is told in Borovník. According to the legend, he fought against Swedish soldiers and stopped a mill wheel with his bare hands. A stone cross from the 18th century stands at a place where, according to local tradition, a pilgrim froze to death. Two other stone crosses are located on the outskirts of Borovník.

A women's association in Borovník continues to uphold the tradition of a carnival procession every year. The first Borovník–Rozseč carnival procession took place in 1976. A traditional pilgrimage takes place in Borovník every year in the second half of May. This annual pilgrimage takes place on the grounds of the former school.

There is an occupancy calendar for the former school building; reservations can be made through the municipal office. The school in Borovník was ceremonially consecrated in October. In 1997, a sports facility was built next to the school building; this included a refurbished tennis court.
