Skryje: Hotels and Accommodation

The area of Skryje is home to the vanished Rysov Castle, a cultural monument. Skryje features historical sites, trails, springs, and preserved buildings.

Culture

Rysov is a feudal residence in the form of a castle with a keep complex dating from the late 13th to the mid-14th century. It survives in the terrain and in fragments of walls and is considered an archaeological and cultural-historical monument site.

A chapel stands on a hill at the site where Hrádek once stood. The listed Buchalův mlýn watermill is located in House No. 13 in Skryje on the Bobrůvka, also known as the Loučka. In its present form, it is a high-quality example of rural Baroque from the beginning of the 19th century, with an older core.

Trails and Landscape

A red-marked hiking trail leads from Skryje towards Šafránkův mlýn. Numerous hiking trails lead from the picturesque Bobrovka valley within the municipality of Skryje practically to the summit of every hill.

The area of Skryje has several spring wells and natural springs with high-quality water. Due to the declining groundwater level, some of them are no longer active.

History

Fuchs designed the AKA complex in Skryje as a cohesive urban structure. A factory and a settlement of detached houses were planned on the right bank of the river, while the left bank was to contain accommodation, a community centre used as a cinema, and technical infrastructure including a waterworks, bridges, and a hydroelectric power plant. The hydroelectric power plant was completed in 1942.

Construction of the AKA complex in Skryje began between 1937 and 1939 but was only partially completed. The complex's surviving features include residential buildings, a bridge, and a water-supply structure.

For a trip to Skryje, travel by bus to the terminus in the municipality is recommended.
