Ladná: Hotels and Accommodation

The Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Ladná was designed by the architect Karl Weinbrenner in the Neo-Romanesque style. As an independent and distinctive work, it is characteristic of the period of Jan II of Liechtenstein’s rule; it was consecrated on 13 October 1914.

The Chapel of St. Michael was built in 1849 at the expense of the municipality and the local farmer Jan Holub. The rectangular building with a four-sided bell tower features characteristic Classical, antiquity-inspired façade elements and commemorates the abolition of compulsory labour in 1848.

The first written mention of the Ladná mill dates back to 1334; it is described there as a mill with eight wheels. The KOVO Prudík company purchased and restored the Ladná mill between 1999 and 2000.

The western part of Ladná’s cadastral area consists of a broad Dyje floodplain with alluvial forests, meadows, wetlands and oxbow lakes. The cadastral area also includes parts of the Niva Dyje FFH area and the Niva Dyje Nature Park. This western area lies on the edge of the artificially designed landscape of the Lednice–Valtice Area.

A yellow-marked hiking trail runs along the western edge of the cadastral area. It follows the route Podivín railway station–Ladenský Bridge–Janův hrad–Hunting Lodge–Lednice. The Velkopavlovická cycle route also runs along the western edge.

The hunting facility built by the Liechtensteins near Ladná at the end of the 17th century was used to catch waterfowl, especially wild ducks. It was no longer used before the Second World War. The historic site comprised a rectangular pond measuring 128 × 120 metres, with its own inlet and outlet.

The wayside shrine dates from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
