Sedlec U Mikulova: Hotels and Accommodation

Slanisko u Nesytu is located immediately near Sedlec; the salt marsh borders the western shore of Nesyt Pond. It covers almost seven hectares and is considered the largest salt marsh in the Czech Republic. Among other plants, the yellow-flowering Hadí mord maloúborný, Panonská hvězdnice and Solenka Valerandova grow there.

Wetland plants grow in the reed beds of Nesyt, where greylag geese, grebes and ducks regularly breed. Nesyt is the only pond in the Lednice pond system whose banks have preserved their natural vegetation.

Skalky consists of numerous fossilized bodies of single-celled bryozoans and algae of the genus Litothamnium, which lived in a prehistoric ocean. The areas are covered by a flower-rich feather-grass steppe where rare plants, birds, praying mantises and smooth snakes can be observed.

The confluence of three streams is a significant natural attraction in the vicinity of Sedlec.

In the 17th century, Cardinal Dietrichstein had a designed landscape created near the town, which included the area of Portz Insel. Portz Insel was the centre of an extensive designed landscape on the Moravian-Austrian border.

The historic brick bridge at Portz Insel has 15 arches, has been restored and opened to visitors. As part of the Portz Insel project, an educational trail with six information boards and rest areas was also created.

The Church of St Vitus was remodelled in the Baroque style and rededicated to Saint Vitus in 1672. Panská sýpka has been an exceptionally large Baroque cultural monument since 1966. The history of Sirné lázně dates back to 1362.

A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1717 stands on the road from Sedlec to Portzský mlýn.

The Vinařství Sedlec cellar tour includes explanations of the winery’s history, its vineyards and grape processing. Vinařský dům Sedlec offers guided wine tastings to the public, not only to guests of the guesthouse.

The Degustační sklep at Vinařský dům Sedlec is open to the public during the summer holidays. The Sedleckých vín Festival, featuring wine tastings and a cultural programme, is held annually as a traditional event. The traditional Sedleckých vín Festival will take place on 5 July 2026 from 10 a.m. on the winery premises by Nesyt Pond.

Sedlecké vinobraní is considered a traditional autumn event featuring grape pressing, wine tastings and gastronomic specialities.

The Moravian Wine Trail runs from Hraniční zámeček via Nesyt Pond to Sedlec.
