Drnovice U Vyškova: Hotels and Accommodation

Nature

Near Drnovice, north of Chocholík Hill between fields, lies a natural feature known as “Mokřad pod Chocholíkem”. It is a flat depression in the terrain covered with reeds; the surroundings are characterised by grass, shrubs and trees. The wetland is not a protected area and probably has no official name.

Two heart-leaved lime trees stand by the Church of St. Lawrence in Drnovice and are associated with 21 January 2004. Two small-leaved lime trees also stand on the Old Road in the centre of Drnovice; they are associated with 4 October 2010.

Culture

The parish Church of St. Lawrence in Drnovice has a late Gothic core. Its presbytery and nave were extended by a tower in the 16th century. The pilgrimage to St. Lawrence in Drnovice is associated with 10 August.

Drnovice Castle was built by Jan Mundy between 1866 and 1869. From 1899 to 1947, it housed a care facility for 80 women. Drnovice Cultural Centre was used for exhibitions, conferences, discussion groups and performances by local amateur actors; these have a long-standing tradition in the municipality.

Routes

The lookout tower is freely accessible year-round. It can be reached via a paved path from the local cemetery and marked hiking trails.

Cycle route 5071 runs through Rousínov, Habrovany, Nemojany, Pístovice, Ježkovice, Opatovice, Drnovice and Vyškov. The “Mokřad pod Chocholíkem” wetland can be reached on foot from the Drnovice Na Žlebě bus stop via a blue-marked trail in approximately 1.9 km, and from the cemetery via a yellow-marked field track in approximately 1.3 km. The field track from the cemetery to the wetland is passable for bicycles of all types.
