Labuty: Hotels and accommodations
Geographical setting
Labuty is an old wine-growing settlement in the valley of the Skalecký potok. The village lies at the confluence of the Skalecký potok, Josefínský potok and Labutský potok at the foot of Hačky Hill, which is 346 m high.
The surrounding area is gently hilly and crossed by three valleys of local streams. The Labutský potok is a left tributary of the Skalecký potok. Above Labuty, the periodically flowing stream has a near-natural character: its structured riverbed has a stony bottom and sediment deposits. Also above Labuty, there is continuous, dense bank vegetation including alders, poplars, willows and ash trees. In the built-up area of Labuty, by contrast, there is a regulated trapezoidal bed with a muddy bottom, as well as steep, grassy banks partly characterized by ruderal vegetation.
Culture
The Chapel of the Virgin Mary, with its bell tower, dates from 1834 and was built on the site of an older wooden chapel. The year 1940 above its entrance commemorates the chapel’s last renovation.
The monument to school principal Jindřich Škoda commemorates the principal, who died in the Auschwitz concentration camp on 13 March 1943. The monument was unveiled on 11 November 1945.
In Labuty, a stone cross from 1904 stands at the intersection of the regional road and the village square. At the cadastral boundary with the municipality of Skalka, there is a cast-iron cross on a stone base dating from 1905. There is also a cross at the entrance to the built-up area of Labuty from the direction of Skalka.
Nature
The Cesta krajinou mikroregionu Podchřibí is a major route that connects the municipalities of the microregion with the Chřiby Mountains and leads to interesting places and through the surrounding countryside. In spring 2021, rest facilities for pilgrims were installed along this route in the Čtvrtky area of Labuty.
The Rozhledna Súsedská observation tower stands in the Podchřibí microregion. It is 21 m high and has a total of 99 steps.
