Novosedly in Moravia: Hotels and Accommodation

At the Marcinčák Winery, visitors can see how wine is made. The winery offers tastings of its wines year-round. For groups of five or more, Víno Ritter organises guided wine tastings; its wine cellar in Novosedly is open to visitors during the main season.

The village square in Novosedly is home to the church dedicated to the patron saint of sufferers and the sick, Saint Ulrich. Romanesque windows can be seen in the roof space, and Romanesque ashlar stones have been preserved in the walls. The Church of Saint Ulrich is one of the few original Romanesque church buildings in the Břeclav District.

The “U starého lomu” Museum displays a reconstructed vz. 37 light fortification object from the Czechoslovak fortification system of 1935–1938. The museum is open during the tourist season; exact opening hours must be confirmed by telephone or via the listed website.

Slanisko Novosedly is the last relatively rich site in the Czech Republic of the endangered narrow-leaved alkaligrass (Heleochloa schoenoides). The area also provides habitat for European tree frogs (Hyla arborea), fire-bellied toads (Bombina bombina) and breeding birds such as Savi’s warblers (Locustella luscinioides) and great reed warblers (Acrocephalus arundinaceus).

The Krojované hody in Novosedly usually take place on the second Sunday in August. During the Krojované hody, the costumed procession goes to the church for Mass and the blessing of the celebrations. Novosedly’s regular wine harvest festival was revived in 2003; a procession visits wine cellars and wine taverns and renews the right to serve wine.

At Novosedelské sklepy open, visitors can tour open wine cellars where local winemakers offer their wines for tasting. In 2023, the event took place on 17 June and 16 September; the regular dates are the third weekend in June and the third weekend in September.
