Ochoz U Brna: Hotels and accommodations

Ochoz u Brna lies in the southernmost part of the Moravian Karst Protected Landscape Area. Ochozská jeskyně Cave is the largest cave in the Říčky Valley. The Říčky Nature Park offers extensive cycling tours and walks through a picturesque landscape with meadows along the meandering Říčka stream and steep slopes of wooded hills.

Pekárna Cave can be reached from Ochoz via a blue hiking trail along a forest path of approximately 2 km beside the stream. Švédův stůl Cave lies in the Říčky Valley near the blue hiking trail towards Pekárna, about 1.5 km from Ochoz. A Neanderthal mandible was found in Švédův stůl Cave; it is also known as the “Ochozská jaw”. An approximately 15,000-year-old incised limestone block depicting a horse was also discovered there; it is an exceptional example of Magdalenian art. In the wider area around Ochoz u Brna, rare finds of Stone Age artefacts from the older Stone Age have come from Pekárna Cave and are represented in the archaeological collections of the Museum of the Brno Region.

The late Renaissance Church of St. Wenceslas in Ochoz u Brna was built in 1606 on the site of a chapel dating from around 1250. After repairs in 1658–1659 following the Thirty Years’ War, the church was enlarged between 1740 and 1750. Traditional masopustní Vostatky celebrations take place in Ochoz. The Svatováclavské hody celebrations are also held there.

Bus route 201 of the Integrated Transport System of the South Moravian Region (IDS JMK) runs through Ochoz u Brna between Brno and Jedovnice.
