Velatice: Hotels and Accommodations

Vinohrady was first designated a natural monument on October 29, 1981. As a natural monument, Vinohrady protects heat-loving steppe communities on rock formations of Culm conglomerate, as well as associated protected plant and animal species.

The Velatická slepencová stráň Natural Monument protects heat-loving steppe communities on Culm conglomerates and is home to rare flowering plants such as the large-flowered pasque flower, dwarf iris, and Illyrian buttercup. A small pond was also created in the Roketnice floodplain, and it was quickly colonized by amphibians.

In 2012, a new rest area with wooden sculptures and a view of the pond was created in Velatice.

Vinohrady can be reached via a field path that forms part of a cycling route. The cycling route can be used by pedestrians, cyclists, inline skaters, scooter and ski-bike users, people with prams, wheelchair users, and users of electric bicycles.

The Podolí u Brna–Velatice–Tvarožná cycling route follows the old Imperial Road.

The Chapel of Saint Anne was converted from an original bell tower and consecrated in 1909. In 1998, it was restored, enlarged, and consecrated again.

The Anenské hody festival is traditionally held in Velatice. At this traditional festival, the program in 2026 included a pilgrimage Mass in the Chapel of Saint Anne on Sunday, July 26, at 7:45 a.m.

The archaeological term Velatice culture was coined following the discovery of a cremation grave in Velatice. A former water mill is also one of Velatice’s local sights.
