The complex of St. Matthew’s Church is located in the geographical center of Ctiněves. The church dates back to the 13th century, has Romanesque origins, and has been rebuilt several times. It contains historic tombstones, including the tombstone of Albrecht ze Zap, made of red marble and featuring a life-sized relief of a knight.
The first written mention of Ctiněves dates from 1318. According to local legend, the forefather of the Czechs (Praotec Čech) is buried in St. Matthew’s Church in Ctiněves. Every year on the Sunday after the Feast of Saint Matthew, the village holds the Posvícení church festival.
