Libkovice pod Řípem lies about four kilometres east of Říp, in a depression at an elevation of 221 metres above sea level.

Location and landscape

The northern side of Libkovice pod Řípem is bordered by a strip of woodland. On the eastern horizon, the town of Mělník can be seen with its distinctive Mělník Castle; to the west, the view is completely filled by the massif of the memorable Říp mountain.

Church and cemetery

Construction of the Protestant church in Libkovice pod Řípem began in 1852; it was consecrated on 4 November 1855. It was the first Protestant church in Bohemia with a tower and bells. The Protestant cemetery opened on 5 November 1855, one day after the church’s ceremonial opening.
