Lahošť: Hotels and Accommodations

Lahošť lies on a plain below the Ore Mountains at an elevation of 225 to 230 meters. Surrounded by bodies of water, historic sites, and notable destinations in the area, the town presents a diverse picture.

Geographical Setting

At the southwestern edge of Lahošť runs the ČD railway line from Ústí nad Labem to Chomutov. The Bouřlivý potok stream flows through Lahošť; its clear water rises below Bouřňák in the Ore Mountains.

Water and Landscape

Velká Vápenka is a body of water created by the flooding of former limestone quarrying sites and serves for recreation, swimming, and fishing. The mountains Stropnik, Bouřňák, Vlčí hora, and Bořeň [Bílina-Újezd] are located around Lahošť. In the wider regional area lies the Ore Mountains Wildlife Park, a zoo.

History and Culture

The first written mention of Lahošť dates from the 14th or 15th century; at that time, the settlement belonged to Osek Castle, also known as Riesenburg. Lahošť's protected heritage includes the water tower of Obří pramen in Na Vypichu.

Obří pramen was a thermal spring with a temperature of 25 to 38 °C and a flow rate of 27 to 42 liters per second; it once powered a water mill. The stone water tower near Obří pramen was used by the Valdštejn family as a water reservoir; from there, water was conveyed through pipes to the baths in Duchcov.

The Lahošť treasure is also one of the town's notable historical finds: it was discovered in 1882 at a depth of six meters in a bronze cauldron filled with bracelets, fibulae, and rings.

Bridges and Surroundings

The bridge on Teplická Street in Lahošť is a still-functioning stone road bridge in the Baroque style from the second half of the 18th century, with three segmental round-arched bridge spans. The eastern bridge in Lahošť on Švermova Street crosses the Bouřlivec, has two arches and a central semicircular supporting pier, and is still operational.

Osek Monastery is located in the vicinity of Lahošť. The ruins of Sukoslav and Hrad Kysperk are also located in the surrounding area.
