The edge of the Site of Community Importance Milešovka (CZ1420416) extends into the planning area of Žalany. The area of Žalany also includes Zones I, II and IV of the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area.

Nature and Landscape

In the northern part of the Žalany area, there is a significant viewpoint in the vicinity of the shooting range, offering panoramic views of Milešovka and the surrounding hills of České středohoří.

Mount Milešovka is located in the vicinity of Žalany. The surrounding area also includes Mount Kloc, Mount Lhota and Mount Glaberův vrch.

Culture and History

The Chapel of St Fabian and St Sebastian stands in the centre of Žalany. Built in 1851, the building is dedicated to both saints and combines a religious function with a fire-protection function. The column with the statue was moved to the village square in 2000.

The Sukoslav ruins are located in the vicinity of Žalany. The surrounding area also includes Hrad Střekov Castle and the ruins of Hradek Oltářík and Hrad Kysperk.

Transport and Hiking Trail

The Žalany zastávka stop is integrated into the integrated transport system. A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from the railway stop in Žalany.
