Perštejn: Hotels and Accommodations

In Perštejn, the ruins of Perštejn Castle stand on a steep rocky spur above the municipality of Perštejn. In places, its masonry has been preserved at almost its original height.

Culture and History

A hammer mill is documented in Perštejn as early as 1540. In 1577, Perštejn also had a blast furnace. The first iron hammer mills in the local area are known to date back to 1352.

The reconstructed Church of St. Vendelín in Perštejn houses an exhibition about the vanished municipalities of the Chomutov District. At the memorial to the vanished municipalities in Perštejn, each stone in the circle is dedicated to a vanished municipality. The memorial is almost four metres high and bears a one-metre-diameter cross in a sun wheel on a slender pillar. This is an enlarged replica of a reconciliation cross that stood near the vanished village of Vrchnice in the Chomutov District.

Leisure and Events

At the swimming pool in Perštejn, parasols, deckchairs, table tennis sets and Russian skittles can be rented. On 19 September 2026, the Highland Games will be held in Perštejn for the fourth time, celebrating Scottish traditions.

Routes

The Perštejn section of the Ohře Cycle Route is 46 km long and rated as moderately difficult to moderately challenging. Perštejn can be reached via a 3.2 km branch from the route of the Ohře Cycle Route. From the turn-off to Údolíčko, a blue-marked route leads to the educational trail near Perštejn Castle.

Perštejn railway station is located about one kilometre from the town of Perštejn.
