Prackovice Nad Labem: Hotels and Accommodations

Prackovice nad Labem lies on the left bank of the Elbe on the southern slope of Debus. The municipality extends from the riverbank into hilly terrain toward basalt hills and extensive meadows.

Nature

The municipality’s ecologically valuable landscape includes forested peaks, including the Elbe breakthrough valley – Porta Bohemica, also known as Litochovické skály –, Kubačka, Debus, and Výsluní, as well as preserved fragments of natural forest and continuous open areas with rocky slopes.

A green-marked hiking trail leads from the railway station in Litochovice nad Labem over the rocky slope of Porta Bohemica to Malé Žernoseky. A yellow-marked hiking trail runs from the same railway station via roads and local paths to Dobkovičky.

Geographical Setting

The Děčín–Prague railway line runs between the municipality and the Elbe. The ČD stop in Prackovice is about a five-minute walk from the municipal office and the town center. Many excursion boats travel through the municipality.

At the end of August, the traditional fishing competition “Rybářské závody – Memoriál Václava Jakubíčka” takes place on a meadow by the Elbe in Litochovice nad Labem.

Culture and History

The Church of St. Matthew in Prackovice is first mentioned in 1352 and was probably originally Gothic. Its present appearance was created by an Empire-style renovation around 1800. In the surrounding area, it is a prominent landmark, especially in distant views from the southeast, south, and west. Its impact is enhanced by the tall tower on the western façade.

The village district of Litochovice nad Labem is home to the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk, a Baroque, rectangular plastered building with a rounded end and a distinctive volute gable with rich stucco decoration on the façade.

Small crosses and wayside shrines stand in the municipality’s fields. The Litochovice district is also home to a ruined plague column dating from the 17th century.

Prackovice and Litochovice were historically known for their extensive vineyards and fruit growing.
