Sedlec: Hotels and Accommodation

Sedlec lies at the northern foot of Házmburk Castle in a depression formed by volcanic elevations.

History and Culture

The first surviving written mention of Sedlec dates from 1237. In the second half of the 14th century, Sedlec came into the possession of the Zajíc of Valdek family. Next to the Chapel of the Guardian Angel stands a memorial erected in 1928 to those who fell in the First World War. The Chapel of the Guardian Angel was renovated and reconsecrated in the 1990s.

Landscape and Trails

A hiking trail runs through the center of Sedlec from Košťálov Castle via the Lucký Mill to Házmburk Castle and Libochovice Château. The Třebenice–Libochovice hiking trail is marked red throughout and is 12 km long. It continues through Sedlec to Házmburk Castle; along the Třebenice–Libochovice route, you can visit the old Lucký Mill in the vicinity of Sedlec. In the vicinity of Sedlec, Házmburk Castle can be reached from Libochovice město railway station via an approximately 3.5 km-long red-marked trail through fields. Also in the vicinity of Sedlec is the 230 m-high Malý Planík, which offers a view of the České středohoří Mountains. There is an inn in Sedlec.

Cycling

The Ústí nad Labem–Házmburk–Libochovice hiking trail passes through Sedlec, is 47 km long, and, with the exception of the Bílka–Milešov section, is also suitable for mountain bikes and trekking bikes. The Lovosice–Házmburk–Lovosice cycling route passes through Sedlec and is approximately 50 km long.
