Újezd: Hotels and Accommodations

Újezd lies amid the forests of the Brocenská pahorkatina, which forms part of the Dokeská pahorkatina. At 348 m, Újezdský Špičák is the highest peak in the Štětsko Region.

Landscape and Nature

The Kokořínsko Natura 2000 site overlaps with the Kokořínsko - Máchův kraj Protected Landscape Area. In addition, the Kokořínsko Natura 2000 site includes the cadastral area of Újezd u Chcebuze. Historically, there were numerous orchards in the vicinity of Újezd.

When Antonín Veith was the owner of the Liběchov estate, a wooden lookout tower stood on Újezdský Špičák. A basalt quarry on Újezdský Špičák was exhausted by the end of the 19th century.

Historical Traces

The first written records of Újezd date from 1230 to 1253. Újezd was initially owned by the Vyšehrad Chapter. From 1519 onward, Újezd belonged to Snědovice. In 1860, a fire destroyed twelve typical farmsteads in Újezd.

Agriculture is also part of the village’s historical heritage: high-quality red hops were grown in Újezd in the 19th century.

Újezd is a stop on the Naučné putování loupežníka Štětky educational trail; the theme of the stop is agriculture in the Štětsko Region. This educational trail is accessible on foot and by bicycle.
