Údlice: Hotels and Accommodation

Údlice is home to the Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross, featuring a Romanesque altar niche, or apse, whose construction dates back to before 1250. It is considered one of the most significant religious buildings in the Ústecký kraj region.

Culture and History

The first written mention of the Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross in Údlice dates from 1247. The church and the cemetery at that time were formerly fortified by a moat. The Údlice Château is adjoined by a farmyard and a small park.

Údlice was one of the main centers of Jewish settlement in the Chomutov region. As early as the late 15th century, there was a Jewish house of prayer here with an attached religious school. The so-called Old Jewish Cemetery may date back to the 16th century; the oldest gravestones date from the 17th and 18th centuries. In 1864, a second, so-called New Jewish Cemetery was established in Údlice near the road to Jirkov. At the beginning of the 1960s, a memorial site was created there for the victims of the death march who died in Údlice in 1945.

Nature

Between 2 and 65 million years ago, a river flowed through the site of present-day Údlice and emptied into the so-called Žatec Lake. The site is known for fossilized trunks, leaves, roots, and tree flowers and fruits.

A seasonal outdoor swimming complex is located at Lázeňská 100. Regional bus route 522569 is designated as the Chomutov–Údlice–Velemyšleves connection.
