Volevčice: Hotels and Accommodation
Culture and History
Volevčice is home to the Church of Saint Procopius, which has been protected as a cultural monument since 7 October 2021. The first written mention of Volevčice dates from 1333. The single-nave Church of Saint Procopius was built in 1840 on the site of a Gothic Church of Saint Gall. It combines a preserved massive late Gothic tower with a Neo-Romanesque nave and presbytery added asymmetrically to the tower in 1840.
Around the middle of the 13th century, a medieval settlement arose southwest of the present-day municipality within its territory, as confirmed by archaeological evidence. The abandoned medieval settlement was buried beneath a layer of mud approximately 70 cm thick.
Landscape and Nature
Despite the development of nearby lignite mining in the 19th century, Volevčice remained a village shaped by agriculture.
Near Volevčice lies Velká Volavka, an important site of halophilic flora and the only surviving location of sea plantain (Plantago maritima) in the Most District. Also near Volevčice, the salinization of the clay at the foot of Velká Volavka causes dwarfism in plants.
Leisure and Transport
The local ice-skating rink is used as a football, nohejbal and volleyball court in summer. The library in Volevčice is open for borrowing on Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m.
Due to the complete closure of the bridge between Volevčice and Bečov, bus route 545 is suspended from 16 March 2026 to 31 October 2026. The Municipality of Volevčice provides a transport page with separate links to ČD timetables for trains and to bus timetables.
