Culture and History
Construction of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Most began in 1517. The church is a Gothic building that was moved on rails.
At the Regional Museum and the gallery in Most, the permanent exhibition “Treasures of Art from the Most Region” presents the artistic furnishings of the churches in Most and the Most region from the 14th to the 16th century. The permanent exhibition “Geology of Northwestern Bohemia” presents minerals and fossils from the Most region and its wider surroundings. The permanent exhibition “From the Lives of the Inhabitants of the Ore Mountains” focuses on the former lives of ordinary people in the Ore Mountains.
The Osek Monastery is located in the surroundings of Most. In the wider region around Most are the ruins of Sukoslav, Purschenstein Castle and the ruins of Hradek Oltářík.
Hněvín Castle and the Landscape
The Hvězdárna dr. Antonína Bečváře observatory is located at Hněvín Castle. From the castle tower, there are views over the Most region, the Ore Mountains and the Central Bohemian Uplands. Hněvín Castle can be reached by car or on foot.
In the surroundings of Most are Bořeň Mountain [Bílina-Újezd], Číčov Mountain, Dlouhá Mountain and Medvědí Skála Mountain.
Sport and Events
The Autodrom Most circuit offers track days. Horse races take place at Hipodrom Most from April to October; show-jumping tournaments and various events for children are also held there.
