The Prameniště Jankovského potoka Nature Reserve also extends into the cadastral area of Opatov. The Jankovský potok forms the western boundary of the cadastral area. Opatov is located near the road connecting Jihlava and Pelhřimov.

Culture and History

Opatov was founded in the 13th century through the colonization efforts of Želiv Monastery. The Evangelical Church of Opatov is a pseudo-Romanesque building designed by Josef Bláha from Kostelec. It was built between 1864 and 1868 and opened on November 1, 1868. Its interior is simple and airy, brightly illuminated by tall windows; the church can accommodate up to 170 people.

The Evangelical Cemetery of Opatov dates back to 1870 and features several gravestones from the last quarter of the 19th century. In the immediate vicinity of Opatov, 2 km northeast of the village on the road to Zbilidy, there is a stone memorial cross registered as immovable cultural monument No. 5417. Also in the immediate vicinity, 1 km northeast of the village in Hovorkův les forest, are the remains of silver mines; they are registered as immovable cultural monument No. 5051.

In the village of Polánka, a district of Opatov, there is a commemorative linden tree and a historic mill.
