Rozseč: Hotels and Accommodation

Rozseč is particularly characterised by its village history, reflected in the church, cemetery, wayside cross, and village square; at the same time, named watercourses, ponds, and mountains form part of its immediate and wider surroundings.

Culture and History

In 1908, the church “Kostel Božského srdce Páně” was built in the village on the site of a former chapel dedicated to Saint Barbara. Today, it is more commonly called “Nejsvětějšího srdce Ježíšova”.

Rozseč cemetery contains a central cross and a memorial to the victims of the First World War. The wayside cross dating from 1681 marks the place where ten-year-old Tomáš Chalupa from Rozseč died: he was struck by a gate and succumbed to his injuries. In 1962, the stone was moved to its present location during land consolidation.

On the village square, House No. 19 is an example of a representative rural façade from the late 19th century.

Landscape

The Otvrňský stream flows east of Rozseč. To the southeast, the Nový rybník pond lies on the Otvrňský stream; to the northwest is the Obecní rybník pond on an unnamed stream that flows through the village.

The nearby surroundings include U Obrázku hill, Hory hill, and the “U Svaté Magdalena” church. The surroundings of Rozseč also include Rudný hill, Hadí hora hill, the “U Svatého Křiže” church, and the Svatá Markéta church. In the wider regional area around Rozseč is the “Roštejn [Doupě]” castle.

Cycling

The marked cycle route 5092 passes through Rozseč. The second stage of the “S kolem kolem Telče” cycle tour also follows this route, passing through Stará Říše, Rozseč, and Zdeňkov, and continuing to Knínice.
