Čížkov: Hotels and Accommodation

Čížkov Castle is a Neoclassical building that was remodeled in the 19th century in the Late Empire style. The interior of Čížkov Castle is not open to the public.

Culture and History

The Czech writer, humorist, and national revivalist František Jaromír Rubeš was born in 1814 in the local brewery in Čížkov. Čížkov is also home to a permanent exhibition of paintings by the Nezávislá národní valašská galerie.

Walser was the author and builder of the Jewish synagogue in Nová Cerekev, constructed in 1855 in the Moorish Revival style. Knight Milíčovský had a castle built in Čížkov in 1654.

The Želivský Kláštor monastery and the churches of Svatá Anna and Svatý Jan are located in the vicinity of Čížkov. The ruins of Orlík are located in the wider regional surroundings of Čížkov.

Nature and Trails

One of Čížkov’s features is a field maple designated as a memorial tree. The 92-kilometer Litohošť–Sosnový les horseback riding route passes through Čížkov.

The mountains of Orlov, Putimovský vrch, Vrchy, and Troják are located in the vicinity of Čížkov. In Čížkov, the “Kolem kapliček na Pelhřimovsku” route passes by a Neoclassical castle dating from 1785.
