Below the village of Sedlice lies the Sedlice Reservoir in the rugged landscape of the Křemešnická vrchovina.

Water and Landscape

The Sedlice Reservoir was built in 1927 behind the confluence of the Hejlovka and Hejnický potok rivers, near the point where the Želivka is formed from the two waterways. It covers 38 hectares; its impounded water extends for 3 kilometres.

Culture

A 120-metre-long stone bridge with ten arches and a concrete parapet spans the crest of the Sedlice Reservoir dam. The dam bears ÚSKP number 104938.

Routes and Access

A road from Želiv through Sedlice to Humpolec leads to the dam of the Sedlice Reservoir. The Sedlice Reservoir and its dam are open to the public. The interior of the Sedlická hydroelectric power station is normally not accessible to tourists; however, an individual tour can be requested from the operator.

Nature and Use

The forests around the Sedlice Reservoir are ideal for walks and mushroom picking. The use of the Sedlice Reservoir for recreation, water sports and sport fishing is subordinate to its primary purpose.

A cycle path runs parallel to the red-marked hiking trail to the Sedlická hydroelectric power station. The Sedlická hydroelectric power station can be reached from several starting points and combined with other tourist destinations.
