Láz: Hotels and accommodations
Láz combines a townscape that has developed over centuries with preserved rural structures, regional paths, and traditional events. The first written mention of the village dates back to 1498. A wooden bell tower from the early 19th century stands on the village square. There is also a wayside shrine from the late 18th century on the road to Nové Syrovice; in Láz, a memorial plaque commemorates the victims of the Second World War.
Culture and history
South of the Class III road, the development around the village square retains the urban structure of the original buildings. It consists predominantly of block-like development with largely enclosed original agricultural farmsteads. These include so-called rear areas with utility buildings, as well as private and scattered greenery. The history of the village also includes the Lazce farmstead: in 1510, it became part of the Bítov estate.
The surroundings of Láz include Svatý Vít Hill, Špičák Hill, Modrácký kopec Hill, and the Heimatkreuz wayside shrine. Further afield in the region are the Schloßberg ruins, Stříbrná hora Hill, Karlslust Château, and the Church of Svatá Markéta.
Nature and trails
The Krumlovsko–Jevišovicko cycle route passes through Láz. The village’s existing cycle routes are defined and taken into account in the municipal land-use plan. The nearby Graselova stezka Nové Syrovice educational trail is marked with a yellow circle containing a white G.
Events
Masopust is still celebrated in Láz. Dožínky is a traditional event in Láz.
