Nová Dědina – Bell, Crosses and Trails in Chřiby Nature Park

Nová Dědina combines cultural history, natural surroundings and marked trails. Historic objects in the village stand alongside specific trail routes and transport information relating to Nová Dědina and the area around Tabarky.

Culture

Today, the “Obecní zvon” bell hangs in the bell tower at the cemetery in Nová Dědina. It was cast in 1839 in the workshop of Leopold František Stanke from Olomouc. The bronze bell is 43 cm high and has a lower diameter of 49 cm. Thus, both its present location and its year of manufacture, the associated workshop and its dimensions have been preserved in the records.

The “Sukovitý kříž” bears a black cast-iron corpus of Christ and is also called “černý kříž” by local people. A new wooden “Dřevěný kříž” was erected in 1862 in the center of Nová Dědina, in front of house no. 7. The “Dřevěný kříž” stood by the forester’s hut in Zelnice and is shown on old maps from 1834. The lime trees planted around the “Dřevěný kříž” are still standing there today.

Nature and Trails

The entire area of Nová Dědina lies within Chřiby Nature Park. The marked trails include the “Stezka Nové Dědiny”, a 6.9 km-long trail marked in yellow. The marked trails of the “Stezky Branou do Chřibů” project also pass through Nová Dědina. These trails are intended for hiking, running, Nordic walking and mountain biking.

There is a large local parking area on the road toward Nová Dědina near Tabarky. An educational trail leads to the clearing where the burial mounds of Tabarky are still clearly visible. The early medieval Tabarky burial mound field is a cemetery with evidence of inhumation burials. There are still 15 burial mounds visible in the Tabarky area today; most show traces of earlier investigations.

On the route from Tabarky, a paved road marked as a cycle route joins the route at the Nová Dědina tourist shelter near an intersection. Thus, alongside the marked trails, the routes also include an educational trail, a local parking area and specific historical traces in the terrain.

Transport

For public transport, a bus connection via Velké Těšany, Nová Dědina, Kvasice and Zlín is listed as valid from 11 December 2022.
