Bojkovice: Hotels amid Castle Heritage and Nature Trails

In Bojkovice, castle history and paths through the town come together in two clearly identifiable forms. Nový Světlov Castle dates from the 15th century, was rebuilt several times later, and was most recently altered in the Tudor Gothic style. The nature trail between the centre of Bojkovice and the castle connects the town with the castle, has five stations, and is suitable for hiking. It is 656 m long and has an elevation difference of approximately 50 m.

The cultural surroundings of the castle also include the Muzeum Bojkovska. In a castle exhibition, it displays part of the original furnishings of Nový Světlov. This collection is supplemented by objects from Návojná Castle. The museum therefore presents exhibits from both castles side by side, while the castle itself remains connected to the 15th century, several later reconstructions, and the most recent alteration carried out in the Tudor Gothic style through its architectural history.

A distinctive historic structure in Bojkovice is the house at Potok No. 302. It is regarded as a particularly valuable example of traditional folk architecture. The building is a clay dwelling house without an agricultural section. It was built from unfired bricks on a rubble-stone base, using traditional local materials and traditional craft techniques. Visits to the historic house at Potok No. 302 can be arranged on weekdays directly through the Muzeum Bojkovska or by telephone.

The Muzeum Bojkovska can arrange guided tours of the Church of St Lawrence in Bojkovice by prior telephone appointment. The cemetery in Bojkovice also contains two hexagonal towers from the 16th century known as Tetaurky. One of the towers houses a lapidarium, while the other contains sculptures depicting a scene from the Garden of Gethsemane.

Mount Valy is located in the immediate vicinity of Bojkovice. The surrounding area also includes the mountains Vysoký vrch, Mikulčin vrch, and Loučka. The ruins of Starý Světlov are located in the wider regional surroundings of Bojkovice. Zámek Lešná Castle is also situated in this wider regional area. Malenisko Church is located in the vicinity of Bojkovice, while the ruins of Lukov are classified as part of the wider regional surroundings.

The nature trail in the Bojkovsko area includes a large 24 km loop and a small 16 km loop, as well as a total of ten information boards. The Na Skalce observation tower was also built near Bojkovice on the initiative of the KBS-SOS civic association, with the support of the investor MěÚ Bojkovice, in August and September 2011. The tower, built from larch and spruce wood, stands on Mr Juračka’s property approximately 1 km northeast of the Krhov district in the Skalka area.
