Břestek: Nature, Cycling Routes and Hotels

The Břestecká skála natural monument lies about 1.5 km northwest of Břestek. It protects a significant geomorphological formation with relic populations of Scots pine and original Carpathian oak-hornbeam forest. Rare species occur in the protected area, including the stag beetle, white helleborine and Cornelian cherry. The Břestecká skála climbing sector consists predominantly of bouldering-style routes. In Chabaně, a district of Břestek, there is also a giant sequoia, “Sekvojovec obrovský”.

Regional cycling route 5050 passes through Břestek along a 26 km route. Cycling route 5150, the “Velkomoravská poutní cesta”, also runs through the village; it is considered suitable for all cyclists. Cycling route 5159 leads from Buchlovice through Břestek to Břestecká skála. The route from Břestek to Břestecká skála follows the road towards Chabaně to an intersection of red- and green-marked trails. A folk-architecture building in Břestek has a historic wine cellar dating from the 19th century. Břestek is also home to an architecturally noteworthy Neo-Gothic building from 1888.
