Hostětín: Find a natural garden, educational trails and a hotel

The “Sochy v krajině” project connects 15 wooden sculptures along a trail; some of the installations are located in Hostětín’s cadastral area. The works are placed at viewpoints, springs and sites associated with local legends. At the same time, they complement the mosaic typical of the White Carpathians, consisting of fields, gardens, orchards, meadows and predominantly deciduous forests.

Centrum Veronica was built in 2006 as the first public building in the Czech Republic to meet the passive standard. It offers the public educational and information services on sustainable regional development and ways of putting it into practice.

The Jablečná slavnost takes place in Hostětín at the foot of the White Carpathians every year in September and also includes cultural activities and environmental education.

The natural garden at Centrum Veronica is open year-round and freely accessible; admission is voluntary. It includes various elements supporting biodiversity, including shelter and nesting structures for reptiles, birds, bumblebees, hedgehogs, insects and bats.

The demonstration natural garden and orchard involves the public in nature-friendly gardening, the preservation of old fruit varieties and the restoration of extensive ecological orchards in the landscape through an educational trail and playful activities.

The “Naokolo Hostětína” educational trail offers beautiful views from the highlands. In good visibility, the pilgrimage sites of Velehrad and Hostýn can be seen above Pitín.

Since 2000, Hostětín organic apple juices and organic herbal syrups have been produced at the local cider house. More than four-fifths of the production bears the “BIO – Product of Organic Farming” certification; the apples are supplied primarily by farmers practicing organic agriculture in the White Carpathians.
