Cycling
Cycle route 5151 runs through Zlechov. The cycling connection from Zlechov can be continued via Tupesy to Velehrad. In addition, the 80 km-long Velkomoravská pilgrimage cycle route runs through the regional cycling network; it is suitable for bicycle trailers.
Culture and History
A chapel dedicated to St. Anna has been documented in Zlechov since the 14th century. The present-day Church of St. Anna was built in 1992–1994 in the immediate vicinity of the former Chapel of St. Anna, which dated from the 14th century. On the village square in front of the church stands the Baroque statue of St. John of Nepomuk. It dates from 1733.
Another sacred monument is the wayside shrine known as “Boží muka”. It bears witness to popular Baroque piety and the tradition of sacred roadside stations. At the cadastral boundary of Zlechov in the direction of Staré Město stands the stone cross known as the “Smírčí kříž”. The “Smírčí kříž” is one of the few surviving stone witnesses to an old legal custom in the region.
Local History
A settlement dating from the Late Roman Imperial period of the 4th to 5th centuries was discovered in the Valy district of Zlechov. It consisted of a total of 198 settlement structures. This settlement in Valy is one of the oldest finds of its kind in the Czech Republic and was the only one of its kind to be fully excavated.
An early settlement was also discovered in the Padělky district of Zlechov. It was established around 5000 BC and included a Neolithic settlement with Linear Pottery culture and stone tools, including a shoe-last celt.
Wine
Vinařství Jakubík in Zlechov offers guided wine tastings. A tasting at the winery includes six wine samples and lasts approximately one hour. A larger tasting includes more than 20 wines from tanks, as well as young and cellared wines, and includes a tour of the production area.
