Ostrožská Nová Ves between the Spa Forest Park and Gravel Lakes

Ostrožská Nová Ves combines nature, spa treatments and regional culture in a specific local history. The spa area, Gravel Lakes, traditional festivals and historic buildings represent different aspects of the town. These are complemented by the production of Kraslice, a museum dedicated to traditional living and events with clearly specified dates.

Nature

The Včelí educational trail runs through the spa area in Ostrožská Nová Ves and through the picturesque landscape around the Gravel Lakes. Along its route, 12 information panels provide information about bees, their importance for nature, bee products and the development of beehives. The Sirnaté lázně Ostrožská Nová Ves spa complex also includes an extensive spa forest park. The Albatros natural bathing area was designated as a natural swimming pool for the 2025 bathing season; an operator provides bathing facilities there.

Spa Treatments and Paths

A cycle path runs directly through the grounds of Sirnaté lázně Ostrožská Nová Ves. The long-standing tradition of successful spa treatments at Sirnaté lázně Ostrožská Nová Ves is connected with the discovery of a unique natural healing spring containing natural sulphur-rich mineral water. The town's profile therefore includes both paths through the spa area and the history of the spring and spa treatments.

Culture

Ostrožská Nová Ves was a centre of Kraslice production. The decoration of Novoveské kraslice began around 1880 to 1890; the technique uses wax batik, meaning painting with beeswax. A listed house in Ostrožská Nová Ves houses a museum with an exhibition on traditional living. The town is also home to a typical smallholding building dating from the transition between the 19th and 20th centuries. The cultural heritage thus ranges from a regional craft tradition to architectural forms and ways of living from earlier times.

Events

At the Hody festival in Ostrožská Nová Ves, the Stárky carry plates or baskets of fruit. The Svatováclavské hody festival is also celebrated in Ostrožská Nová Ves on 28 September. During the traditional Fašank programme on 14 February 2026, Ostrožská Nová Ves hosted a masked procession, performances by FS Novovešťan and an evening gathering with cimbalom music.
